Paediatric home visit

A paediatrician is a specialist involved in the care of young children and adolescents. His tasks include not only the treatment of trivial ailments such as runny noses, colds or other minor infections, but also the monitoring of the young person’s general condition. Among other things, the paediatrician assesses the child’s psychometric development, recognises developmental disorders, orders appropriate tests and, if necessary, refers them to other specialists. This entails a broad knowledge of genetics, psychology, psychosocial sciences and others.

Awareness raising

The paediatrician’s job is more than just medical treatment; it is also to maintain the right relationship with the parents and to shape the medical awareness of the young patient. It is worth emphasising here that being under the care of a trustworthy specialist from an early age develops in the child the right attitude to his or her own health and the habit of taking care of it. And this is where home visits can be helpful. By avoiding the stress and often tiring journey to the health centre, they allow the young patient to ‘get used to’ medical care and develop the right attitudes from a young age.

Friendly atmosphere

Examining a child at home has many benefits not only for the young patient, but also for his or her parents. First and foremost, it avoids the need to stay in the waiting room for hours on end and contact with other patients. In addition, it saves the whole family unnecessary stress and a tiring journey to the clinic. Instead, the paediatrician arrives at a pre-arranged time directly at the little patient’s home, and the entire examination takes place in an environment familiar to the child and in a friendly atmosphere.
